Mostly Music Soundscape Series: Michelle Velvin

This is a GA ticket to Michelle Velvin on Saturday 30 August 2025, 8pm (doors 7:30pm) at The Bond Store, 21 Birmingham Street, Paraparaumu.

About Michelle Velvin

Michelle Velvin is a Wellington based harpist, composer and teacher. She performs regularly as part of Orchestra Wellington and the NZSO and she is involved with diverse chamber music groups.
This programme includes 'Supernova' by Adriano Sangineto, Blues for Harpo by Paul Lewis, music by Bartok and Walter Carroll and a special feature of new music for harp and voice by Velvin.

Michelle performs regularly with Orchestra Wellington, NZSO and with various chamber music groups such as Aurum Trio, Flow, Stroma, and Tamira Pūoro. In 2022 as Tamira Pūoro, Ruby Solly and Michelle Velvin released their debut album ‘Feather Spines’, which explores the relationship between taonga pūoro and harp, and the history of Aotearoa New Zealand's social landscape. In 2023 Michelle completed a new commission The Paekākāriki Blues (The Coral Blues) for the NZ Harp Festival. In 2019/2020 Michelle was awarded the SOUNZ Community Commission to create a new work for the Auckland Harp Orchestra and live dancers. Michelle completed her PgDip in harp performance at Te Kōkī New Zealand School of Music in 2015.

About the Mostly Music Soundscape Series

A curated series of intimate live music experiences showcasing the depth, texture and emotion of sound. Each performance invites you to immerse yourself in a new soundscape, informed by genre, sonic craft, and music as an art form. Designed for music lovers who want more than a background soundtrack, this series celebrates live performance with a diverse range of acclaimed performers.

  • Saturday 21 June — Nick Granville Trio

  • Saturday 26 July — Seth Boy Trio

  • Saturday 30 August — Michelle Velvin Harpist

  • Saturday 20 September — The Weather Machine

  • Saturday 25 October — Danica Bryant

Doors 7:30pm, with events starting at 8pm. Each event will be 60—90 minutes in two sets.

These events will take place inside at The Bond Store, Paraparaumu and are seated with general admission. As a season pass holder you will be reserved seats near the front of the audience.

The Bond Store is located at 21 Birmingham Street, Paraparaumu. It operates as The Tasting Room which serves food and beverages.
