Listing and sharing events with Mostly Music.

The sooner you can get your event live on Mostly Music, the more eyeballs will see it before you perform. Mostly Music sends out a weekly gig guide (emailed to the database every Wednesday morning) as well as weekly social media posts and stories with upcoming events. The more information you include, the more information we can share on your behalf. Yes, you can consider us to be your free marketing agent!

DEADLINE: Submit events by 5pm Tuesdays to make it into the weekly gig guide.

    • Think of it like this: if a fellow music lover found your event listing, but hadn’t heard of you before, what could you tell them about what to expect from you and your performance?

    • It’s slightly more time consuming, but the more useful information you include, the more likely music lovers are going to be interested in coming along, and - hey presto - a bigger audience! We did our very best to create a form to add events to the website which is not only easy to use, but also a pleasure to use. That said, we are very interested in your feedback! So if you can recommend any improvements, we’d love to hear about them.

    • Words and photos - the two most important things. If you can write a compelling event name, tell us about what your audience can expect, and upload a relatable, intriguing image, you’re half way there.

  • It’s all pretty obvious stuff, but just to be absolutely clear about what we won’t share:

    • If an event has an element of live music but is not a wholly-focused live music event we reserve the right to not publish it. We will review everything on a case by case basis and let you know if we’re not sure. Generally speaking, if an event is public and there is going to be a focus on live music, it’s looking pretty good.

    • We will not publish or promote any event listings that contain racist, exclusive, or divisive language. We are about diversity and inclusion and we do not stand for anything that will obviously offend others, especially minority groups.

    • Right now we are focusing on Kāpiti, for events happening between Ōtaki and Paekākāriki. One day we hope to be mighty enough to take this lil project outside of the comfort of our own community, but for now we are committed and dedicated to proving the concept and showing a whole bunch of aroha to those who put themselves out there musically. (Don’t stop, the world needs you!)

    • By ticking the “I’ve read the guidelines” box when you submit an event, you also agree to receiving occasional emails from us about useful and relevant things. Hand on heart, no spam.

    • Our advice? Say goodbye to Facebook events. The statistics don’t lie - Facebook is slowly losing its audience, and those who are still using the platform are using it less and less. However, social media still has a place in our lives. We recommend you share your event when it’s live by adding the MM website link to your event in a post on your social media channels (if you are a social media user), or send it to your tribe via email or text. You could also print the event page and attach it to a carrier pigeon. If you find one, please send it our way!

    • Let us be your marketing agents. No strings attached. We will use the MM social media channels to post a weekly round up of what’s on as well as sending out a weekly gig guide email to the public database. We are also investing constantly in leading people to the MM website: a one-stop-shop for all musical goings on in Kāpiti. We are here to support live music, locally. If you share the event info, and tell your mates to find music information through Mostly Music, we look forward to taking care of the rest… so you can concentrate on making great music.
