Peyton Morete
ARTIST PROFILE
Peyton Morete is a dynamic Māori singer-songwriter and sound engineer originally from Wellington (Ngāi Tahu, Ngāti Porou) and now based between the Kapiti Coast and Tāmaki Makaurau. She began performing at age nine and has spent her adolescence honing a powerful and soulful vocal style that effortlessly merges contemporary pop, folk, and soul influences. A true multi‑disciplinarian, Peyton writes, composes, records, produces, mixes her own music in her home studio, and has even directed, filmed, and edited her own music videos.
In 2022 she graduated from Massey University with a Bachelor of Commercial Music, unveiling an ambitious eleven‑track concept album titled The End to the Beginning, accompanied by a short film she created independently. Her catalogue also includes the 2024 single “Seraphina” and earlier EPs launched in her teens.
Over the years, she has been recognised with several Smokefree Rockquest regional awards and was finalist on Māori Television’s Korihi, while also being selected for the Pinnacle Programme for artistic leadership. With a growing following across YouTube, TikTok, and SoundCloud—and her creative control over all aspects of songcraft and visuals—Peyton Morete is carving out a bold and authentic musical journey.
