The conversations we had!
Back in late 2023 I had a conversation with then-Station Manager of Coast Access Radio, Nikki Carroll. Nikki was on a mission to broaden and diversify their listenership and I was on a mission to find a way to make a podcast without setting it all up myself. Hello local community radio station!
And oh boy what a steep learning curve that was. I discovered quickly that I love listening to music and finding tracks to share with listeners, I love talking to artists — local and touring — and I do not love dealing with the technology required to make all that whizz bang stuff happen… at least not at the same time as putting together a show (usually last minute) with limited studio time and a day job to get back to.
But for a fair few shows, we cobbled together interviews, tracks, write ups and studio time to make several shows in a row. Some great chats were had! And while things are on pause right now while we focus on other initiatives, we will definitely be back.
It’s called The Mostly Music Radio Show and it was made with support from Coast Access Radio. We conceptualised and produced this radio show in support of live music happening between Paekākāriki and Taitoko Levin, for both local and touring artists. The gig guide in radio show form!
